22/05/2010 - Season 2010/11

The committee are pleased to announce the management structure for next season.

The 1st team will be managed by Brian Newton again. We will be hoping to build on our success of the last 2 years now we are back in the Premier League.

The reserves will be managed by Jimmy Beale. Jimmy will be hoping to continue the run of 7 straight wins that we had at the end of the season. Promotion from Division 3 will be the target.

The colts will be managed by Dan McCaffrey. Dan is hoping to have another strong intake of youth players from Cosmos, who will hopefully be too strong for Division 8.

Let's hope that the atmosphere and attitude is as good as last season and the club continues to be successful.

Don't forget training will be on Tuesday and Thursday from 15th June.

19/05/2010 - Next Season Announced!

Although I haven't personally heard it officially, it appears that we were NOT awarded the points from our defeat to Heath Pilgrims and therefore consequently finished our Division One campaign in the runners-up position after all. I say this because the League Management committee met last night to create the Division's for next season and presumably would have been keen to conclude our issue too. Mittoo does not reflect any subsequent award of points. Whatever the outcome, the first team are back in the Premier next year and I don't think it's been stated on the site until now..........Congratulations to the management and each of the players for such an enjoyable and ultimately rewarding season for the Club!

Our seconds will start next year in Division Three, a promotion by name at least and just reward for such a strong finish to the season. The Colts remain in Division Eight where they will expexct to continue their steady progress.

Want to know who you will be up against next year exactly? I thought so. Here you go.......

19/05/2010 - ...........And There's More

I've been interviewed twice so far today after posting a comment about Jason's experience onto one of the Aston Villa fan forums.

There will be a story running in the Birmingham Sunday Mercury and the following link is fairly amusing too:

17/05/2010 - The Stuff Of All Of Our Fantasies!

Aston Villa won the Hong Kong tournament with Jason in the squad and he got to play on two occassions including the semi-final v West Ham united!

He is seen here celebrating after the final against Rangers with the rest of the squad, medal around neck even!

Before any wise-cracks, he's the one above the little kid on the left!

15/05/2010 - Jason Joins The Villa!

Excuse me for bigging my son up a little but I think I have genuine reason................

He's literally playing for Aston Villa today!

Put on stand-by yesterday by the Premiership club to help out as a result of injury to their squad, they confirmed to him this morning that they need him to take part in the International Soccer Sevens being hosted by his Hong Kong club!

Delfouneso Looking to Lead by Example in a Strong Villa Team

Aston Villa have made their intentions clear ahead of the 2010 HKFC IP Global International Soccer Sevens by including 3 first team squad members. The most notable being Nathan Delfouneso, a teenage striker who has already caught the attention of the media in his debut season in the senior squad both domestically and in Europe. Delfouneso along with fellow youngsters Marc Albrighton and Ciaran Clark were the subject of many loan offers from various clubs in January. However, Martin O'Neil emphasised his confidence that the trio were good enough to remain as vital squad members on the fringes of Aston Villa's first team, and in May they will be heading Aston Villa's challenge for the cup in the main tournament of the HKFC IP Global International Soccer Sevens.

06/05/2010 - Vets Lose out in Final

Bad luck to CTFC Vets who lost 4-1 to Hassocks in the Fred Pretty Veterans Final on Sunday.

CTFC fell behind after only 7 minutes to a penalty and a further headed goal from a corner put us 2-0 down at the break. We did have our chances to reduce the deficit before half-time with Dave Johnson hitting the post, Mark Pamment having a header ruled out for offside and Paul Dunk missing a great chance when put through by Dave Johnson.

However Hassocks picked up the pace in the second half and ran out worthy winners. We did pull a goal back through a Christian Macrae free-kick to make the score 3-1 but Hassocks added a fourth close to the end.

Despite the defeat it was a great achievement to reach the final and the old boys seemed to enjoy trying to re-live their former glory years.

28/04/2010 - Party Like It's 1991!

Our result against Horsted Keynes in the Mowatt Cup last night was our 18th Cup Final victory but never before was such an emphatic result achieved!

Ben Lusk and Nolan Mortimer joined the elite club of Cup Final hat-trick heroes, who's membership until yesterday consisted of a solitary Christian Macrae! Perhaps its something about April 27th. Christian scored his Cup Final hat-trick on the same date in 1991 when he contributed towards a 4-2 victory over St. Francis Hospital in the Montgomery Cup.

That was our third Mowatt Cup won. The first being in 1933, which the history books reveal, commmenced our decades of top-flight honours achieved, as prior to that we had never before won a cup final. Our last Mowatt Cup winning squad of 1979 included John White within its ranks, nice that Dan was involved this time around.

Back to Nolan for a moment. His first goal for Cuckfield came in a 7-2 victory against St. Francis Hospital ten days after the 1991 cup final win. One other fact worth recording here that won't be in our record books; Nolan states that last nights match was the final game of his career. I understand that during his time in Sussex football, he has now played in Eight finals and won the lot! Perhaps if we'd have told Horsted Keynes that before the game, they might not have bothered to show up! But anyway, who out there could dream of a better way to sign out than scoring a hat-trick in a Final in your last match?!

20/04/2010 - The Eyes Of The World Are Upon Us!
My son and I shared correspondence this morning across the globe.......
Jason concluded with this:
Wow!! Amazingly that sounds like our season...

We have two games left.

If we win this weekend and the other team in second who are also part of my club lose or draw we win the league.

If we both win or we lose or draw and they win we will go into next weekend in the last game of the season playing each other for the title! It's going to be a pretty amazing encounter thats for sure....

Wish you were there 2 see it!!!!

As for Cuckfield, it would be amazing to see them back up in the prem again after the decision collectively that everyone made about dropping down some divisions. It is clear to see now it was the right decision after all!

If you can Daddy, wish them luck from me to everyone that knows me, I will be looking forward 2 hearing all about it. Such a shame i cant be there to celebrate with everyone.
