I woke up on this beautiful Saturday morning and was really looking forward to the game. For the first time though i was really gutted i couldn't be involved in a playing capacity. Never mind, i soon was rather cheered up when i drove round to Whitey's house to pick him up and saw the state of him!!! He staggered to my car and quickly informed me he was hammered and got in at 5am! Great example for one of our 'senior players' but was pleasantly suprised as he had a blinder so all forgiven and i encourage him to do it next game!!!!
 
Right, on to the game..
 
We started the game very brightly, our front 3 of JC, Leo and Not so homeless Wade (He had shaved!!) looked very threatening. JC and Leo in particular looked very menacing in the early stages and we deservedly took the lead after about 10 mins. MDB sending in a great in swinging free kick from the left, the ball got headed down by Wade to Leo who fired in with a fine strike. (More like a left foot scuff!) But they all count!
 
Unfortuantley, about 20mins later they equalised with a penalty. Chris Lane bringing down their striker in a position where he wasn't really going anywhere but that sort of thing happens in football. Good penalty but shame to be level after our good start. The rest of the half was pretty even and both teams had chances to score but were denied by good defending or good goalkeeping.
 
Half time 1-1.
 
Team talk was mainly about getting the ball forward as quick as possible to our front 3, this is when we looked most dangerous and all our good play from the 1st half was when this happened.
 
2nd half kicked off and we bossed it for 20mins. Wade grabbing a quick brace, 1st was a great shot by him, keeper made a fantastic save but Wadey was there to head back in the rebound. our 3rd and Wadey's second was after a brilliant through ball by Leo i think, Wadey ran on to it and drilled in a brilliant strike in the bottom corner. Very impressive and just showed his confidence at the moment. 3-1 and cruising.
 
On a rare attack by them they managed to pull one back, a bit of slack defending by us where we failed to clear, and their guy scored a bit of a peach to be fair. 3-2 and a bit under pressure now!
 
We quickly got back on top though and Leo soon made it 4-2 after a great low strike after a good ball by Jimmy F i think it was. 4-2 quickly became 5-2, MDB's ball into the left hand chanel and Wadey ran on to it, looked to cross but fooled everyone including their keeper by drilling home at the near post. hat trick complete and 8 goals in 5 games!! He has been awesome these last few weeks and it's not just the goals he brings to the team. He and Leo are great outlets and hold the ball up really well and we always look like scoring with them 2 involved!

Some very good performances; Back 4 was was very secure, Whitey winning everything in the air, Jimmy sweeping brilliantly when needed, Captain for the day MDB also solid and won his fair share of headers. Franko very good when he wasn't kicking the ball out of play!!! Midfield 3 dominated, Joe Reed and Stuart Powell in particular were immense and i was considering giving them MOM till Wadey popped up with a hat trick! Front 3 have been the key to our wins recently and again were awesome.
 
Great win boys, 5 in a row and very well deserved as well. Everyone was buzzing after the game, in fact the whole club is buzzing right now after the 1sts won their semi final (Well done Bert and the boys) the pub was rocking, a bit like Whitey was about 3 before the game!!!
 
Now, gotta 2 week break so recoup and prepare for 6 in a row!!
