Felled!
By Roy Arnold.

The day before the big game i had major problems as many dropouts occured and at 1 point was down to 8 players! Luckily we managed to get 12 players thanks to the help of Bert & Barnesy.

When selecting the team i noticed we had a lack of defenders, so a few played out of position and I had to adopt a 3-5-2 formation. Hands up, this may well of been our downfall.

We started the game very brightly and both teams had and missed good chances, Ben Wade had some good moves and shots and we looked dangerous on the attack - as did they.

After 25mins or so we got punished for some slack defending but were unlucky as Lee Power made a great save only for the ball to hit Gilo and rebound into the net. 10mins later it was 3-0 after poor defending again from a free kick followed by a screamer by their centre forward. 3-0 down at half time.

Second half we went for it a bit but weren't quite good enough and were 4-0 after they crossed but luckily for them it flew in to the top corner.

I came off the bench for the injured Dean King and my squared pass found Danny Tugwell who's bobbly shot was fumbled over the line for a consolation goal.

There was still time for them to add another 2 goals and also miss a penalty.

We were well beaten to be fair but in spells we looked a good team and should take a little heart from that, as we had a depleted team and played against a team 2 divisions above.

Some great performances were there. I thought Gilo, Ali, Jimmy (Joey Barton) Ferrar were magnificent and it was out of these for MoM but Gilo just nicked it.

Back to the league next week where i will be making a few changes to improve, probably even a start for yours truly!!

Don't forget the Question of Sport night this Saturday (17th) at the White Harte. Make sure you're there for an 8pm start with your team of 4. Everyone else, can you please make sure you remind everyone during the week so we get a good turnout to reinforce the positivity in the club. It should be a great night.

Thanks

Nolan Mortimer
