Tempo! Tempo! Tempo!
By SRVL.

Well, what can i say? Before the game kicked off i had a good feeling about the result we should of got.
With super Will Ivey in attack (and more importantly Mrs Ivey on the sidelines!!) i thought this is going to be a good day! Bert; Will is staying with us all season now, unless Mrs Ivey refuses this colder weather - then you can have him back!! Haha.

Before we kicked off, Jimmy and i stressed how important the word TEMPO was, we are so much better when we play quick short passes and get a few crunching tackles in early on. Unfortunately this didn't happen and we started slowly and very sluggish. In fact both teams did to be fair and it was a rather dull affair to watch from the sidelines.

About half an hour in, our slow start got punished when they whipped in a corner and their centre half nodded in the opener, poor goal to concede and a uphill battle began. 5 mins later we got a string of 3 or 4 corners from which Ben Wroblewski produced great deliveries and Ravanelli popped up and headed in a very similar goal to which we had just conceded. 1-1 and back in it.

The half fizzled out without anything else in particular happening and the bore continued. Half time 1-1.

Second half kicked off in very similar style even though Jimmy said the Tempo word about 33 times and tried to get across how important it was. Unfortunatley it must of gone in 11 ears and out of 22. With half an hour or so to go we decided to make a change just to try and shake things up a bit. I came on for Ben Wade. Shortly after Ravanelli got injured and Jimmy Ferrer replaced him. After his pre-match strop he came on and I think he made a big difference as he put a crunching tackle in and seemed to get everyone going again.

They made it 2-1 with 20 mins or so left after a shot slipped through Gary's hands. (No blame on Gary).

We then played the last 15 mins exactly how we should have started the game, having about 5 really good chances and if the ref had given us a desrved pen after Conor struck a well hit shot for which thier defender dived and made a great 2 handed save! God knows how a pen wasn't given and the ref after the game said he knows he handled it!! Made it even worse!

We just couldn't get that equaliser and time just ran out and we lost 2-1.

All i can say is, if we start the game the way we finished, we look a very good side. We need to be a bit more clever at the back, too many times we let the ball bouce in front of the defence putting us under pressure.

Roll on next week, the previous game gave me a selection dilema due to everyone being fantastic and I couldn't really drop anyone. This week it was the total opposite, i could drop everyone and not many players could complain!!
